Kdm6a (Utx) demethylates trimethylated histone H3 lysine-27 (H3K27me3)
Kdm6a (UTX) demethylates histone H3 trimethyllysine-27 (H3K27me3, lysine-28 of the preprotein) to yield histone H3 monomethyllysine-27 (H3K27me1) (inferred from the human homolog). Kdm6a participates in demethylating genome-wide H3K27me3 in cleavage stage embryos (Bai et al. 2019).
