Npas4 stimulates Plk2 gene expression
In mouse (Weng et al. 2018) and rat (Brigidi et al. 2019) neurons, Npas4 stimulates transcription of the Plk2 gene. Plk2 is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates formation of synapses between hippocampal mossy fibers and CA3 pyramidal neurons, which are essential for contextual memory encoding (Weng et al. 2018).
