Pvalb gene expression is repressed by Mecp2

Binding of mouse Mecp2 to the promoter of the mouse Pvalb gene represses Pvalb transcription. Pvalb is overexpressed in visual cortical neurons of Mecp2 mice, which is thought to contribute to visual regression (Durand et al. 2012).
