Unlike mouse esBAF, which appears to only contain BAF155 (equivalent to human SMARCC1), human esBAF contains a dimer of BAF155 (SMARCC1) and BAF170 (SMARCC2) (Ho, Ronan et al, 2009, Ho, Jothi et al, 2009; Wade et al, 2015; Zhang et al, 2014). The SMARCC dimer interacts with SMARCD1 (BAF60A) to form the core assembly module; SMARCD2/BAF60B and SMARCD3/BAF60C have been variably reported in different esBAF complex purifications (Ho, Ronan et al, 2009, Ho, Jothi et al, 2009; Zhang et al, 2014; reviewed in Kadoch and Crabtree, 2015; Cenik and Shilatifard, 2021; Innis and Cabot, 2020).
