NOTCH2NLB mRNA is translated into NOTCH2NLB protein. The N-terminal portion of NOTCH2NLB corresponds to EGF repeats 1-6 of NOTCH2 (Fiddes et al. 2018). NOTCH2NLB does not contain regions that correspond to transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains of NOTCH2 (Fiddes et al. 2018). The C-terminus of ~20 amino acids is unique to NOTCH2NLs (Fiddes et al. 2018, Suzuki et al. 2018).

NOTCH2NLB is secreted (Fiddes et al. 2018).

The EGF repeats of NOTCH2NLB are critical for its role in cortical development (Suzuki et al. 2018).
