As assayed by the activation of CREB by cAMP, PDE4D5, in a complex with integrins and fibronectin (PDE4D5:ITGA5:ITGB1:fibronectin), hydrolyzes cAMP to yield AMP and hence reduces activation of CREB (inferred from bovine homologs). Cyclic AMP acting via PKA is anti-inflammatory (Funk et al. 2010), therefore PDE4D5 acts to increase inflammation.
