MITF-dependent expression of the G2/mitotic cyclin CCNB1 contributes to the proliferative capabilities of melanocytes and melanoma cells (reviewed in Goding and Arnheiter, 2019). By ChIP, MITF-M binds to an E-box at position -56 to -51, and siRNA-mediated depletion of MITF causes a decrease in CCNB1 protein (Strub et al, 2011).
