FIGNL1 binds SPIDR (also known as KIAA0146). The interaction involves the N-terminus of FIGNL1, but does not require the FRBD domain. SPIDR may enable recruitment of FIGNL1 to DNA damage sites even when the interaction of FIGNL1 with RAD51 is impaired (Yuan and Chen 2013).
