As suggested by studies using the chimeric EGFR-LTK protein, SHC1 is phosphorylated after recruitment to the activated receptor (Ueno et al, 1995; Ueno et al, 1996). Overexpression of full-length LTK in HEK293 cells also appears to support increased SHC1 phosphorylation relative to vector controls (Roll and Reuther, 2012).
