Soluble fragments of TGFBR3(1-783) genearted by MMPs maintain their TGFB1/TGFB2 binding ability. It binds with TGFB1/TGBF2 and sequester TGFB ligands (TGFB1/TGBF2) away from TGFBR2 receptor leading to suppression of TGFbeta signaling (Lopez-Casillas et al., 1994).
