Human tRNA-dihydrouridine synthase-2 (DUS2) binds to protein kinase R (PKR, EIF2AK2) and inhibits its activation. Inhibition of PKR by DUS2 plays an important role in regulating stress-induced apoptosis (Mittelstadt et al, 2007).
