RISC-loading complex subunit TARBP2 (TRBP2) can bind to inactive3 PKR, inhibiting its activation. This effect is enhanced by phosphorylated TARBP2 generated by cellular response to stress, and prevents apoptosis due to sustained PKR activation (Park et al, 1994; Benkirane et al, 1997; Gupta et al, 2003; Daher et al, 2009; Paroo et al, 2010; Clerzius et al, 2011; Sanghvi & Steel, 2011; Chukwurah & Patel, 2018; Ukhueduan et al, 2021).
