After hRSV nonstructural protein 1C (NS1) localizes to the nucleus, it binds to both phosphorylated IRF3 dimer and CREB-binding protein (CREBBP), preventing association of these two proteins and the subsequent stimulation of expression of interferon-beta (Ren et al, 2011).
