The Inhibitor of DNA-binding 4 (ID4) gene is expressed in the developing nephric duct (inferred from the mouse homolog). In mouse embryos, Pax2 and Gata3 activate expression of Id4 but it is unknown if the regulation is due to direct binding of the factors to the Id4 gene (Boualia et al. 2013). ID4 appears to be involved in regulating stem cell survival and differentiation (reviewed in Patel et al. 2015).
