SOX17 and TFAP2C bind the gene encoding CBFA2T2 (also called MTGR1) during differentiation of human primordial germ cells from embryonic stem cells in vitro (Tang et al. 2022). In mice Cbfa2t2 is a transcriptional co-repressor that interacts with Oct4 and Prdm14 to regulate pluripotency and germ line differentiation (Nady et al. 2015, Tu et al. 2016).
