MSGN1 binds and activates transcription of the DLL3 gene in presomitic mesoderm (inferred from mouse homologs). DLL3 is a ligand of NOTCH that is normally inhibitory, however, in mice, loss of Dll3 in presomitic mesoderm paradoxically causes a reduction in Notch signaling (Bochter et al. 2022).
