In the male pronucleus of the zygote, Serine-arginine-rich protein kinase 1 (SRPK1) phosphorylates PRM2 on serine-8 and serine-10. This reaction is inferred from the mouse homologs in which Srpk1 phosphorylates Prm2 on serine-8, serine-10, serine-56, and serine-69. Human PRM2, however, does not have serine residues corresponding to serine-56 and serine-69 of mouse Prm2.
