Dimeric ZnT5/SLC30A5 mediates the transport of cytosolic Zn2+ into the lumen of the Golgi apparatus. The protein is expressed in human pancreatic beta cells and localizes with the Golgi apparatus and insulin-containing secretory granules (Bosco et al. 2010; Kambe et al. 2002; Kambe et al. 2021).
