MESP2 is expressed in the presomitic mesoderm (Xi et al. 2017 and inferred from mouse homologs). TBX6 binds the MESP2 enhancer and is required for expression of MESP2 in paraxial mesoderm (inferred from mouse homologs). NOTCH signaling strongly enhances the activation of MESP2 by TBX6 (inferred from mouse homologs). FOXC1 and FOXC2 are also required for expression of MESP2 in paraxial mesoderm (inferred from mouse homologs).
