TBX6 is expressed in the primitive streak and then continues in the paraxial mesoderm (Xi et al. 2017 and inferred from the mouse homolog). NOTCH signaling acting through RBPJ directly activates expression of TBX6 in paraxial mesoderm (inferred from mouse homologs). WNT signaling and FGF signaling also directly or indirectly activate expression of TBX6 in paraxial mesoderm (inferred from mouse homologs). TBXT is not required for initial activation of TBX6 expression, but is required for maintenance of TBX6 expression (inferred from mouse homologs). Mesogenin1 (MSGN1), which is itself activated by TBX6, activates TBX6 in a reinforcing loop (inferred from mouse homologs).
