Based on studies in rat primary neurons, NPAS4 binds the SYT10 gene locus (Woitecki et al. 2016, Brigidi et al. 2019), encoding Synaptotagmin-10, a Ca2+ sensor required for Ca2+-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles in neurons. The heterodimerization partners of NPAS4, ARNT and ARNT2, were also shown to associate with the SYT10 gene locus (Brigidi et al. 2019). Since binding of individual NPAS4 heterodimers has not been tested, NPAS4:ARNT, NPAS4:ARNT2 and NPAS4:ARNTL are annotated as set candidates for binding to the SYT10 gene locus.
