Based on a study conducted using mouse hippocampal neurons as the model system, NPAS4 directly stimulates FOS gene transcription (Ramamoorthi et al. 2011). In rat primary neurons, Fos gene transcription is significantly upregulated upon Npas4 activation (Brigidi et al. 2019).
