Based on a mouse study, BHLHE22 (also known as BHLHB5) recruits histone methyltransferase PRDM8 to the first intron of the CDH11 gene. Binding of BHLHE22 to the consensus element(s) in the CDH11 intron 1 precedes the binding of PRDM8 (Ross et al. 2012).
