NFE2L2 binds to CREBBP (also known as CBP, Creb-binding partner) and EP300 (p300) as assessed by co-immunoprecipitation and pulldown experiments. The interaction is mediated by the Neh5 domain of NFE2L2 and the C-terminal residues 1725-2414 of EP300. Both EP300 and CREBBP are able to acetylate NFE2L2 in vitro and in vivo leading to enhanced DNA-binding and transcriptional activation at some but not all NFE2L2-dependent promoters (Sun et al, 2009).
