The HAND2 (dHAND) gene is transcribed to yield mRNA and the mRNA is translated to yield HAND2 protein. Expression of HAND2 is restricted to the right ventricle during cardiogenesis. Expression of HAND2 is directly activated by GATA4, GATA6 (Sharma et al. 2020), and ISL1:LDB1 (inferred from mouse homologs).
