After CBL is phosphorylated and binds CSF1R, CBL autopolyubiquitinates and polyubiquitinates CSF1R (inferred from mouse homologs). The ubiquitination of CSF1R results in a subsequent wave of phosphorylation by CSF1R and the internalization and proteolysis of CSF1R (inferred from mouse homologs). Thus multiubiquitination of CSF1R is required for full activity of CSF1R and for termination of signaling by CSF1R.
