Elongation factor 1‑alpha 1 (EEF1A1), an abundant cellular protein, binds F-actin to modulate cytokinesis and functions in delivery of aminoacyl tRNAs to the ribosome in protein synthesis. In SARS‑CoV‑1‑infected cells, nucleocapsid protein (N), the most abundant viral protein, interacts with EEF1A1, causing its aggregation and disrupting these processes (Zhou et al, 2008).
