Mitochondria-bound PGRMC1 transfers heme to ER-bound PGRMC2, which delivers heme to proteins in the ER and nucleus, including heme-responsive transcription factors such as Rev-Erbα (Parker et al, 2017; Galmozzi et al, 2020).
