The SOCS3 gene is transcribed to yield mRNA and the mRNA is translated to yield SOCS3 protein. STAT1 dimers, STAT3 dimers, and STAT5 dimers bound to the promoter of the SOCS3 gene activate transcription of SOCS3 (inferred from mouse homologs).
