Desmopressin (trade name DDAVP) is a vasopressin receptor agonist drug used to treat diabetes insipidus, bedwetting, hemophilia A, von Willebrand disease, and high blood urea levels. Desmopressin stimulates the release of von Willebrand factor from endothelial cells (Warrier & Lusher 1983, Santiago-Borrero & Casanova 1990) via arginine vasopressin receptor 2 (AVPR2) (Slusarz et al. 2006). Unlike vasopressin, desmopressin has little effect on blood pressure.
