Based on in vitro studies, human NPAS4 in complex with human ARTN2 binds to promoters I and IV of the BDNF gene (Pruunsild et al. 2011). In mouse neurons, it was shown that endogenous Npas4 binds promoters I and IV of the endogenous mouse Bdnf gene (Lin et al. 2008, Bloodgood et al. 2013), as well as intron III (Bloodgood et al. 2013). The NPAS4:ARNT2 complex is shown as a set member, while NPAS4:ARNT and NPAS4:ARNTL are shown as set candidates in the context of binding to the BDNF gene promoter.
