Based on studies in mice, transcription of the RETN gene, encoding resistin, is directly stimulated by FOXO1 (Liu et al. 2014). Resistin is an adipocyte specific hormone that suppresses insulin-mediated uptake of glucose by adipose cells (Steppan et al. 2001).
