Activation of ERK signaling downstream of FGFR3 fusions suggests that, as is the case for WT FGFR, FGFR3 mutant-associated SOS1 activates RAS nucleotide exchange from the inactive GDP-bound to the active GTP-bound state (reviewed in Parker et al, 2014; Carter et al, 2015).
