Interleukin-18/Interleukin-18 receptor 1 (IL18:IL18R1) complex binds Interleukin-18 receptor accessory protein (IL18RAP, IL18 receptor beta chain), forming a high-affinity signaling complex (Born et al. 1998, Debets et al. 2001). This IL18RAP subunit seems to be necessary for the signal transduction (Kim et al. 2001).
