The release of MKL1 (MAL) from nonpolymerized actin (G-actin), after profilin:G-actin complexes bind DIAPH1 and EVL (VASP) downstream of activated RHOA, enables MKL1 to translocate from the cytosol to the nucleus (Miralles et al. 2003).
