Allysine residues can condense with lysine residues forming dehydro-lysinonorleucine (deH-LNL) cross-links. In this representative reaction, all allysine residues are shown as converted to deH-LNL though partial conversion, or conversion to other cross-linked forms is possible (Reiser et al. 1992, Bailey & Peach 1968).
