SKI/SKIL ubiquitinated by RNF111 (Levy et al. 2007, Nagano et al. 2007) or SMURF2 (Bonni et al. 2001) are degraded in a proteasome dependent way, enabling transcription of SMAD2/3:SMAD4 target genes.
