As inferred from mouse, SREBF1A (SREBP1A) and SREBF1C (SREBP1C) bind the promoter of the Glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase gene (GPAM, GPAT) and enhance transcription (Ericsson et al. 1997, Shimano et al. 1999, Griffin et al. 2007, Yoshida et al. 2009, reviewed in Horton et al. 2002). The GPAM gene is transcribed to yield mRNA and the mRNA is translated to yield protein.
