At the inner mitochondrial membrane (IM), the phospholipase A2 group IV alpha (PLA2G4A) protein hydrolyzes monolysocardiolipin (MLCL) and produces dilysocardiolipin (DLCL) (Buckland et al. 1998, Sharp et al. 1994).
