The dihydroorotase activity of cytosolic CAD hexamer catalyzes the reaction of N-carbamoyl L-aspartate to form dihydroorotate and water. The chicken enzyme is known only as the product of an open reading frame inferred from genomic sequencing; all molecular details of the reaction are inferred from its human counterpart.
