Unblocking of Grin1:Grin2 NMDA receptors
Upon depolarization of rat neurons by the influx of Na+, Mg2+ is removed from the pore of GluN1:GluN2 (Grin1:Grin2) NMDA receptors, resulting in activation of ligand-bound receptors (Clarke et al. 2013).
