Phosphorylated tyrosine residues Y447, Y472 and Y589 of GAB1 are docking sites for the regulatory subunit PIK3R1 of the phosphatidyl inositol-3 kinase (PI3K) complex (Rodrigues et al. 2000). GAB1, phosphorylated by MET, thus recruits PI3K to activated MET (Schaeper et al. 2000).
