SRF:MKL1 binding to the promoter region of the integrin beta-1 gene stimulates ITGB1 expression downstream of RHOA:GTP:DIAPH1-induced actin cytoskeleton changes. Binding of SCAI to SRF:MKL1 inhibits RHOA:GTP:DIAPH1-induced ITGB1 transcription (Brandt et al. 2009).
