NEIL2 (endonuclease 8-like protein 2), an enzyme with a dual DNA glysocylase and beta/delta lyase activity, recognizes 5-hydroxyuracil (5-OHU) created by DNA damaging oxidation of cytosine (Hazra et al. 2002).
